119 snow and ice sculptures are on display at the Odori Park venue. Highlights include projection mapping and a sculpture of Michael Leitch, captain of Japan’s rugby team. A record 2.7 million people attended the event last year.
But this year, the warmer-than-usual winter and lack of snow could keep attendance low, as could concerns over coronavirus. Hand sanitizer was available across the 3 venues. The Sapporo Snow Festival will run through February 11.
