Exploring Hokkaido on Wheels: Large Camper Van Rentals Now Available at New Chitose
Booking a hotel and following a fixed route is not the only way to see Hokkaido. From June 26, 2026, large camper van rentals became available near New Chitose Airport, increasing access to more areas of the island.

With a large camper van, travelers can go where they want and stay as long as the view warrants. Moving Inn, which runs rental car and accommodation businesses in Hokkaido, has added a large camper van, to its fleet. The interior of the Cresson Journey has a high ceiling that adults can stand upright in, along with beds and ample storage. It suits long trips and families with small children.
Straight from the Airport
Vehicles can be picked up at a dedicated base near New Chitose Airport, with a free shuttle from the terminal.
The camper van rental service, previously offered only in Obihiro, is now available at New Chitose as well, putting the rest of Hokkaido within easy reach.
A New Way to Road-Trip Hokkaido
Rentals start at ¥28,000 per day, excluding tax. With a base near New Chitose Airport, road trips to eastern and northern Hokkaido—not just the central region—are now far easier to plan.
