Kura Sushi’s outlet in Tokyo is equipped with a system in which customers can register for entry into the store and pay on their own. There’s no need to touch the screen as it reacts when a finger comes close. Customers can also order food on their smartphones.

An AI camera automatically calculates the number of plates consumed.

To adapt to the new normal amid the coronavirus pandemic, Kura Sushi plans to introduce the contactless system at all of its restaurants by the end of 2021. The company operates over 500 stores in Japan, the United States and Taiwan.
