A small village located in the city of Miyoshi (Tokushima Prefecture) is home to 27 people…and 270 scarecrows. Aptly nicknamed Kakashi no Sato (Scarecrow Village), this project is credited to Ayano Tsukimi, who returned to the village to take care of her aging father. It began simply enough, Tsukimi's scarecrows served their original purpose: protecting her plants. Soon after, other villagers began asking her to make them in order to watch over the empty homes, as depopulation left many homes abandoned.
