Japan’s First Neon Pickleball Club Opens in Shibuya

A Sport Spreading Worldwide

Pickleball, played with a paddle and ball across a net, combines elements of tennis, badminton, and table tennis. It originated in the United States and has since spread internationally, drawing new attention in Japan.

Its smaller court and lower physical demands make it accessible across ages and skill levels compared to tennis or badminton.

A Court Lit in Neon

NEON PICKLEBALL CLUB, Japan’s first standing pickleball facility, occupies the second basement floor of the Shibuya Tobu Hotel. The two courts use black-light court markings and neon fixtures, and the space is kept dim. Paddles and balls are available for free rental.

Sessions for Every Level

Programming includes beginner sessions, community events, night tournaments, and corporate networking events, along with casual play for friends, family, or fellow travelers. Events for international visitors are also planned.

Goods and Pop-Ups

A pop-up space within the facility sells original pickleball goods, apparel, and collaboration items.
