Train & Station Transform into Temporary Pub

Izakaya Trains Osaka

If you find yourself looking for somewhere to go drinking in Osaka, you might want to consider Nakanoshima Station. For four nights in June, a platform and train are going to turn into an izakaya (Japanese-style pub).

From June 22 to 25, 2016, the third platform at Keihan Nakanoshima Station is going to transform into a throwback izakaya. Tables and low dining tables will be set up along with irori (Japanese-style fireplaces) in order to set the mood for this trip down nostalgia lane.

Patrons will be able to order beer and sake along with oden, cup noodles and other popular food items from the Nakanoshima area. You’ll be able to enjoy them both on the platform and on the 2200-series train that will be parked there.

Entry will cost you only ¥1,000 (US$9.20), and that includes a drink ticket. But you’ll want to make sure you get there early in the evening, because this izakaya closes at 9:30 p.m.! You and your friends can revel in the unique setting, and you can also check out the accompanying exhibit explaining the history and culture of Nakanoshima.
