6 Great Tokyo Light-Up Spots
To get people into the holiday spirits, RocketNews24 headed out with their cameras to check out the Christmas lights at Marunouchi, Tokyo Dome, Roppongi and more. Most events are held every day from 5 p.m. to 11 p.m. until Valentine's Day, so you can spend a romantic evening with your loved one basking in the glow from the lights.
Set to an adagio version of "Deck the Halls with Boughs of Holly," the video shows the gorgeous, twinkling lights that seem well worth it to brave the cold.
1. Roppongi Hills
First comes Roppongi Hills, where you can catch this beautiful view of the red and crimson Christmas lights set against a red and ivory Tokyo Tower background.
2. Tokyo Midtown
From November 12 to December 25, 2015, Midtown will be covered in lights for its spectacular seasonal event, Midtown Christmas 2015. This year's theme, "Midtown Cruise," will once again take over the entirety of Tokyo Midtown starting from the Green Square, giving off brilliant shades of green and blue light for as far as the eye can see.
3. Caretta Shiodome
After taking in the beauty of the illumination lights, head over to Caretta Mall to do any last-minute shopping!
4. Marunouchi
The streets of Marunouchi sparkle with festive, champagne-gold LED lights that reduce energy consumption by about 30 percent compared with last year's bulbs.
5. Tokyo Dome
Take in not only the sights, but also the sounds at Tokyo Dome: until December 12, "I Believe" from popular Japanese boy-band EXILE can be heard just in front of the 100-meter (320-ft) length pop-up art display.
6. Shinjuku
At Terrace City near Odakyu Century Southern Tower and the Odakyu Department Store, catch a glimpse of thousands of glowing golden lights and a statue that looks similar to a Christmas tree with 2-D projection mapping.
Phew! Now go out and explore all the fantastic light up events that Tokyo has to offer!
