The system uses footage taken on 10 surveillance cameras to determine which areas of the stadium are crowded. To protect spectators’ privacy, people are shown as human-shaped icons on monitors. In addition, receivers installed at about 100 locations detect radio waves of visitors’ smartphones, enabling officials to see which areas people tend to gather at. The data will be used to prevent crowds from forming as part of anti-coronavirus measures.
