2020 Olympics Bringing New Bus Line to Tokyo
The articulated vehicles can carry 1.5 times more passengers than regular buses. The new service will connect the Olympic village area, on the edge of Tokyo Bay, with Toranomon in the city center. It’s meant to facilitate the transportation of athletes and visitors during next year’s Olympics. More than half of the events are set to take place in the bay area. Test runs will begin on October 1.
The operator aims to transport around 2,000 people per hour with 20 vehicles once the line becomes fully operational after fiscal 2022.
