Tsushima Shrine Gate Crumbles in Typhoon
A stone gate at a shrine in southwestern Japan has crumbled as Typhoon Haishen passed nearby. Although very little rain fell on Tsushima, strong winds lashed the island, causing considerable damage.

The Watazumi Shrine has a history of about 1,300 years. Two of its five torii gates become submerged in the sea at high tide. In this video taken five days ago, the gate furthest away was still standing, but as of Monday, September 7, the shrine priest found the structure collapsed.
