Introducing Japan's Top Sommelier
A competition in Tokyo has decided Japan’s best sommelier. The All-Japan Best Sommelier Competition takes place every three years. This year, judges wore a mouth shield due to the coronavirus pandemic.

The five contestants were also evaluated on their English and communication skills. Taku Iguro, a sommelier who has worked at a French restaurant in Tokyo, won this year’s first prize. Iguro and the second-place winner will go on to compete in the Asia-Oceania Best Sommelier Competition.
