Instead of side mirrors, cameras display footage of areas the driver cannot directly see on a large monitor.

The prototype uses 33 sensors that can assess its surroundings and objects on the road. Through Vision-S, Sony hopes to enhance sensor technology to enable self-driving in the future.

The electronics maker plans to test the car on public streets before the end of fiscal 2020.
