The new cafe can be found in Nonowa Kunitachi, in the Tokyo suburbs of Kunitachi. Most of the workers at the store have a hearing impairment and will be eager to serve those customers as well as those without impairment. Staff will also wear a clear plastic face shield as a precaution against COVID-19. Customers can order products using sign language or by pointing at the menu. They can also learn Japanese sign language through artworks on display. Starbucks hopes customers will be able to enjoy the diversity of communication methods.
