Secret Fireworks Shows Encourage Staying Home

With many festivals around Japan being canceled in the wake of the Covid-19 pandemic, some fireworks makers have found a way to bring joy to the nation, while still encouraging citizens to enjoy the view from home.

In a project called "Cheer Up! Hanabi," over 140 companies have teamed up to shoot fireworks across all 47 prefectures at the same time. The date and time were previously kept as a secret, but the official time of the event will be 8 p.m. on Monday, June 1.

As for the location of the fireworks, the specifics won't be released because the event organizers want you to see the show from home. Although the event will happen all across the country, if you are in an area where you cannot view the fireworks, follow #cheeruphanabi to see photos and videos from the event.
