Mixed Reactions Over End of State of Emergency
People in Osaka, Hyogo and Kyoto in western Japan had mixed feelings over the lifting Thursday, May 21, of the coronavirus state of emergency in their region.
In the three Kansai prefectures, the local governments’ requests for business closures and restraint from going out will be called off on a large scale at midnight Friday.
While many residents were concerned about the economic impact of a continued state of emergency, they are also worried about the safety of their family, friends, and customers, and the risk of a second wave of infections if people let their guard down too early.
