A small trip from Ueno lies one of the oldest yet magnificent shrines in Tokyo: Nezu Shrine. Despite its establishment over 600 years ago, Nezu Shrine still proudly stands as one the most attractive shrines in Tokyo, with lush greenery, colorful flowers, a bright red wooden torii tunnel, classic koi ponds, and other elements of an ideal Japanese garden. The brilliantly colored azalea gardens are only open to the public during the Bunkyo Azalea Festival, so make sure you check it out if you're in Tokyo during April and May.

Location: 1 Chome-28-9 Nezu, Bunkyo City, Tokyo 113-0031
