Tadao Ando's Library in Osaka Is Off the Wall
A new library, Nakanoshima Children’s Book Forest, opened in Osaka designed specifically for children. The space is filled, wall-to-wall and floor-to-ceiling, with outward-facing books. The building was designed and built by master architect Tadao Ando, who donated it to the city to be utilized by children of all ages.
“Here, you are going to find a lot of books that you’ve never seen before,” says the library, speaking specifically to kids. “Not just picture books, but reference books, children’s stories, cooking books, art books, photo books,
and books in other languages, too!” Here, in this space with walls covered with books, children are invited to explore new worlds.
Admission is free, but you must reserve your spot in advance. Visit Spoon & Tamago for more info and pictures of this marvelous space for our future leaders.
