Yusuke Asai's New Exhibit Uses Wild Materials
Tokyo-born artist Yusuke Asai travels the world, creating wild and unrestrained art with whatever canvas and materials are available to him locally: soil, water, dust, flour, tape, and pens. Toward the end of last year, he accompanied a deer hunter whom he had befriended on a hunting expedition on the Oshika Peninsula. As a tribute to the deer, he collected some of the wild animal’s blood and incorporated it into his paintings as new material.
