If you're a true Tokyo hipster, you'd know that Shimokitazawa is the place to be for thrift shopping and fashion.

And part of that reason is Toyo Department Store, or Toyo Hyakkaten, an eclectic mishmash of over 20 independent secondhand and handmade shops in one building. Each shop's offerings are different, from Doc Martens, band memorabilia, baseball caps, phone cases, handmade jewelry and more. Meandering through each unique shop and scavenging through the products in the hopes of finding a hidden treasure is half the fun.
