New Year, New Swords

Bladesmiths in Gifu are making swords to mark the start of the year. They forge the blades, hammering on steel heated to 1,300℃. The production method has been handed down for hundreds of years. About 300 spectators came to watch. Gifu is very famous for its bladesmiths, who skillfully make some of the best swords and knives in Japan.
