Ryokan Kikori: Seasonal Cuisine to Die For

Ryokan Kikori: Seasonal Cuisine to Die For

Located in Fuefuki City, Yamanashi, Ryokan Kikori (旅館きこり) is a traditional Japanese inn dominated by its lovely bamboo thicket and the stunning suits of samurai armor to be found here and there on the premises.

This is a higher-end venue with vast guest rooms—designed for groups—and a large interior meeting space, featuring both an indoor and outdoor bath (rotenburo), as well as lovely wooden baths ensuite. Guest rooms overlooking the bamboo grove certainly have the best views!

Even more than the accommodation, the cuisine is to die for, with seasonal ingredients plated on equally seasonal dishes, presented with lively aplomb.

Fuefuki City is located just east of Kofu City, on the north side of Mount Fuji, making it a great place to start any Fuji adventures.

Address: 325 Kawanakajima, Isawa Town, Fuefuki City, Yamanashi Prefecture

In Japan since 2001, I'm a former ALT trainer who's lived in Shizuoka, Saitama and Tokyo, and visited 34 of Japan's 47 prefectures (13 to go!). When I can get out from behind the editorial desk, I take photos, do bits of theater and practice German longsword.
