At this festival people gathered to watch a marionette performance by hidden puppeteers. It was exciting to see it up close!
I really admired the skill of the puppeteers. I'm glad that we could time the trip around the festival. Later we were able to spend some time walking around the town and seeing the other floats that took part in the festival.

The town of Takayama itself was very beautiful, and retained its historic atmosphere. I could spend a long time walking around! The morning market the next day was also interesting, and I enjoyed talking to each shop owner.
