Shoryudo — Rising Dragon of Japan
For eight days, I traveled around the Chubu in central Japan, also known as Shoryudo. Although my trip was very busy, I was able to see many interesting sights and try some handicrafts for the first time! The region is packed with sights to see, cultural activities to try out and nature to explore.

Suruga Bay Ferry (Shizuoka)
The ferry crosses Suruga Bay in Shizuoka Prefecture, allowing a beautiful view of Mount Fuji... on a clear day. Unfortunately, due to rainy weather, I could not see Mount Fuji. Although I had some bad luck in that regard, the facilities and staff on the boat were excellent, and I enjoyed my ride. I would love to come back again on a day with better weather!

Tokaido Hiroshige Museum of Art
After the 50-minute ride on the ferry I headed to the Tokaido Hiroshige Museum of Art. Here they had a collection of ukiyo-e prints from Hiroshige's famous work "53 stations of the Tokaido." I really enjoyed getting to seen them in person!
Meijiya Shoyu
After having some sakura ebi (sakura shrimp) for lunch, I went to a soy sauce brewery to see the fermentation process. We even got to have a try squeezing and filtering the soy sauce ourselves! The staff here were very friendly and knowledgeable, which really made the experience for me.
