3 Awesome Autumn Events in Yugawara Onsen
3. The Festival of Lights & Fireworks Display
Along a promenade stretching 500 meters (1,640 ft) along the river from the hot spring town of Ochiaibashi to Izumi Park, the light of roughly 1,000 quietly flickering bamboo lanterns is used to illuminate the surface of the Chitose River. You can also see a fireworks display, where the autumn sky is lit up by the lights of more than 3,000 fireworks representing stillness and change, including 80 majestic enshu tezutsu (handheld cylinder) fireworks.

2. Autumn Leaf Banquet Teahouses
Hiking is popular when the leaves are changing color in Oku-Yugawara. To those who aren't interested in a long hike, we recommend taking a stroll near the Oku-Yugawara bus stop. There are lots of tea rooms along the Oku-Yugawara walking course where you can enjoy traditional Japanese tea as you gaze at the leaves.
