The Tottori Sand Dunes are Japan's largest desert, a 16 kilometer by 2 kilometer (9.9 x 1.2 mi) strip of sand located on the edge of Tottori City on the Sea of Japan. A major tourist draw, 2 million people annually visit the dunes, which are part of the San’in Kaigan National Park—itself a part of San'in Kaigan Geopark.

If you want to do more than take stunning photos and walk across the undulating dunes, you can also ride camels, go sand-surfing, go paragliding or ride in a horse cart. There's also the nearby Sand Museum featuring incredible, gigantic sand sculptures. Stick around to the latter half of the video and you can see how these amazing sculptures are made!
