Get Your Bento in a Tube
Eschewing the beauty typically associated with the bento box—and even the box itself—Takara Tomy's Smart Han ("smart rice") is basically the sausage-maker of the bento world.
It's a kind of push-pop for all your leftover rice and other food from the night before, which you can fill up and then squeeze out by rotating the base of the tube. It's a no-nonsense, lo-fi plastic ejector of midday sustenance.
Is it bento? Who knows? But on a three-snooze-button morning, it may be the difference between a konbini (convenience store) lunch and something with a bit more of a homemade touch.
