How to Make Vegan, Gluten-Free Okonomiyaki
Ochikeron remains one of our favorite cooking YouTubers, and this time she presents us with vegan, gluten-free okonomiyaki made without any eggs or flour.
To make this savory pancake, you just need Japanese Yamato yams (Yamato-imo), kombu dashi powder, cabbage, green onions, ginger and cooking oil. If you can't get Yamato yams, Ochikeron has a few recommended substitutions as well. She even teaches how to prepare homemade okonomiyaki sauce using ketchup, Worcestershire sauce and sugar.
The recipe is actually really simple—the tutorial itself only takes a little over three minutes, and the rest of the video is devoted to eating, a few extra substitution notes, and a chat with Ochikeron's infant daughter, who seems to be making a very precise point in adorable gibberish.
