Seat Orientation May Improve Station Safety
After analyzing two years worth of data, the West Japan Railway Company has come to a startling conclusion pertaining to drunken people falling onto train tracks: Rather than gradually meander closer to the tracks, ninety percent of falls are the result of people, in a drunken stupor, getting up from a bench they were sitting on and walking straight off the platform.
