An Incredible Adieu to Kansai
Hien Tran takes us through the last days of her Global Immersion Program in Japan, including everything from travel to in-class presentations and her farewell party, wrapping it all together in a moving adieu to the Kansai region.
She of course leads us to the usual stops at Kinkaku-ji, Fushimi Inari-Taisha, Heian Shrine and Gion in Kyoto, but also goes so much deeper—catching goldfish (kingyo-sukui) at a festival in Wakayama, sitting with a singularly unimpressed feline at a cat café in Osaka, and enjoying the fireworks at the Tenjin Matsuri in Osaka.
We even get a detailed look inside the Momofuku Ando Instant Ramen Museum in Osaka and a ride along the adorable trains of the Wakayama Electric Railway. Plus there's Hanshin Koshien Stadium in Nishinomiya, the historic foreigners' mansions of Kobe called Ijinkan, and even a bit of Wakayama Castle. We'd say she spent her time in Kansai very well indeed!
