These New Years greetings postcards, or nengajo, feature Funnassyi striking a number of unique poses and wishing recipients a Happy New Year for 2016. The cards are worthy of extra note because they're sold exclusively at Kiddyland in Harajuku, Tokyo, and in Umeda, Osaka. The cards are sold in packs of three for ¥480 (including domestic postage).

For an extra seasonal treat, each card also features a scannable QR code that delivers a special voice greeting from Funassyi to your phone!

If you can't get your hands on these exclusive and rare Funassyi cards, you won't be completely left out: the Japan Post offers many other designs of Funassyi New Year's cards you can check out here!

We Love Funassyi

An unofficial blog in English about Funassyi, the equally unofficial mascot of Funabashi, Chiba. While not affiliated with Funassyi in any way, if you want to keep up with the jet-setting anthropomorphic pear, this is the place to go. The site is maintained by Makiko Itoh, who has been writing about Japanese food and culture for more than a decade. A die-hard Funassyi fan, she believes Funassyi is poised to “go global.”
