Want to navigate Niseko with ease? The Niseko App has been updated to version 1.7.1 for the 2015/16 season, free to download on both iPhone and Android.
As you'd expect of a service for what's arguably Japan's top ski area, the app offers snow and lift status reports outlined in exceedingly detailed English, which you can update with a touch. In addition to general information and trail maps for the four resorts sprawled across Mount Niseko-Annupuri, you can also get village maps and even a map of New Chitose Airport, as well as public transportation timetables both from the airport and in the immediate Niseko area (while Google Maps are great for day-to-day, they tend not to include those airport limousines).
You can also find the requisite selection of local restaurants and accommodations, plus a number of general recommendations for making life easier while you're in the area including not only equipment rentals but banking services, electronics shops, cultural tours and child care services. In short, The Niseko App will both get you to the mountain and cover all your needs while you're there. Not bad for the price of free!
