Want to navigate Niseko with ease? The Niseko App has been updated to version 1.7.1 for the 2015/16 season, free to download on both iPhone and Android.

As you'd expect of a service for what's arguably Japan's top ski area, the app offers snow and lift status reports outlined in exceedingly detailed English, which you can update with a touch. In addition to general information and trail maps for the four resorts sprawled across Mount Niseko-Annupuri, you can also get village maps and even a map of New Chitose Airport, as well as public transportation timetables both from the airport and in the immediate Niseko area (while Google Maps are great for day-to-day, they tend not to include those airport limousines).

You can also find the requisite selection of local restaurants and accommodations, plus a number of general recommendations for making life easier while you're in the area including not only equipment rentals but banking services, electronics shops, cultural tours and child care services.
