Built in 1935 as Japan’s first wedding complex, Meguro Gajoen is a mini-oasis in the middle of a mostly business district.

It might not be the most amazing place in Japan to visit, but the complex does offer some very interesting attractions, including indoor traditional restaurants and tea ceremony rooms, gardens with gorgeous painted wooden frescoes, and a nice little pond. The facility received a three-pavilion rating in the 2009 and 2010 Michelin Hotel Guides, though the accolade seems to have waned in more recent years.
