Office Lunch Delivery Trial Begins in Tokyo
The experiment comes as an increasing number of people are benefiting from takeout and delivery services amid the novel coronavirus pandemic. 10 eateries in multi-building complex COREDO Muromachi and COREDO Nihonbashi make the lunch boxes. People working in nearby offices can choose and pay for their food through a smartphone app. The lunches will then be delivered per building.
Organizers say about 30-40 orders are made on average per day. Purchasers and carriers can avoid face-to-face contact since the meal will be placed on a designated shelf.
The trial will run until March 31.
